The vine

Ancient white Campanian variety, the Coda di Volpe grape was cited for the first time by Pliny the Elder in his "Naturalis Historia". Its name was derived from the Latin "Cauda Vulpium" for the long form and streamlined shape of a mature pine cone, which recalls the tail of the fox.
